Any team in the world rarely commands the public interest and fan following like the Men in Blue. Indian fans across the globe wait eagerly to catch a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes within the Indian team. Thus, when Rishabh Pant, along with the current Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, appeared on a show recently, the internet was flooded with interesting insights. The duo were also joined by young opening batter Abhishek Sharma and seasoned leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on the show.

Gautam Gambhir and Rishabh Pant stage a fun banter, name dropping Rohit Sharma in the chat

Rishabh Pant recently stirred up some light-hearted banter when he referred to Rohit Sharma as the most “bossy” player in the Indian team. Pant's casual admission prompted an immediate response from head coach Gautam Gambhir. The moment unfolded during Pant’s appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where he was joined by Gambhir, Abhishek Sharma, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

In most families there is a jethani who's calling the shots. Who is such a player? Someone who orders everyone, even if they're just taking advantage of their seniority," Kapil Sharma can be seen asking the cricketers.

"Rohit bhai is like that," Rishabh Pant said.

"Maine kaha, Rohit ka naam lele, abb toh retire ho gaya (Take Rohit's name, he's retired now)," Gambhir said with a smile on his face.

A particular segment from the episode is making rounds on social media, showing comedian Kapil Sharma asking Pant to name the most bossy figure in the dressing room. Without hesitation, Pant named Rohit Sharma. Incidentally, Rohit Sharma has previously been a guest on the Kapil Sharma show on two occasions, once following India’s loss in the 2023 World Cup, and again after their subsequent World Cup triumph.

At present, Rohit is vacationing in Italy with his family, wife Ritika, daughter Samiera, and son Ahaan, sharing scenic snapshots from some of the country’s iconic landmarks. The veteran batter was originally scheduled to return to action in August for the India tour of Bangladesh. However, with the white-ball series now postponed, his next assignment is expected in October, unless the BCCI announces a replacement series in that timeframe.

As of now, the Indian squad competing in England is without both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have retired from Tests and T20Is and are only available for ODIs. With a young lineup taking the field, KL Rahul stands out as the most experienced player in the current setup. Meanwhile, amidst the ongoing India vs England Test series, the Netflix clip from Pant’s appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show has gone viral online, adding a humorous twist to the serious cricketing action.
