Pep Guardiola sheds light on his future beyond Manchester City
Manchester City continues their strong run in the later stages of the ongoing Premier League campaign with a recent 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. With this victory, they are edging closer to securing a Champions League spot. While also preparing for the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace, the club is beginning to look beyond the Pep Guardiola era.
Although Guardiola recently signed a contract extension, discussions about his eventual replacement are already underway. There were also rumors about his retirement from football management, but he has clarified those speculations. He stated that he does not plan to retire but will take a brief break before moving on from the English club.
After my contract with City, I'm going to stop. I'm sure. I don't know if I'm going to retire, but I'm going to take a break
Pep Guardiola also stated that he is not leaving the club at the end of the season or upon the expiration of his contract. However, he emphasized that whenever his time at the club does come to an end, he will take a brief break from active football management. He said:
I didn't say I'm leaving now or at the end of season or the end of contract. I said when I finish my time here, be it one, two, three, four, five years, I will take a break. I won't retire, but I will take a break. What I am saying is when I am finished here, I will take a break
How does Pep Guardiola want to be remembered?
The Spaniard mentioned that he does not know how he wants to be remembered, but he hopes people will remember him for the impact he had on their lives. He added that while families may grieve for two or three days, coaches are remembered much longer, if they have made a meaningful contribution both on and off the field. Pep Guardiola said:
How I want to be remembered, I don't know,
I want people to remember me however they want.
