Patrice Evra singles out a Manchester United player who was bad in training
In a recent interview, former Manchester United legend Patrice Evra reflected on his time at the club and revealed who he considered the worst player in training. While Evra shared the pitch with greats like Edwin van der Sar, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidić, Wayne Rooney, and others, he singled out a surprising name when it came to training effort.
Evra named Carlos Tevez as the worst player in training, noting that the Argentine often appeared uninterested and sleepy during training sessions. However, he was quick to praise Tevez for his commitment on matchdays, stating that the forward gave everything for the team during Premier League fixtures. Patrice Evra said:
The worst trainer was Carlos Tevez, he was sleepy, he didn’t want to train, but on the weekend he would run for everyone
While playing for Manchester United, Carlos Tevez scored 34 goals and provided 14 assists in 99 Premier League appearances before making a controversial move to arch-rivals Manchester City.
What did Patrice Evra opine about the current Manchester United season?
Speaking about Manchester United’s 2024/25 season, Patrice Evra described it as a disaster. He noted that the new coach, Ruben Amorim, is self-aware of the challenges the club is facing. The five-time Premier League winner also praised Amorim’s humility and referenced the incident involving Marcus Rashford. While Evra expressed his admiration for Amorim’s personality and approach, he emphasized that the results on the pitch have been poor.
It's a disaster, it's not a great season. Amorim knows that, I had a meeting with him and he's not happy,' the five-time Premier League winner added. But I love his humility, he admits things. You remember what happened with Rashford? He said, 'Guys, I couldn't get the best out of Rashford', so I love his honesty. I love the personality but, of course, the results are really bad this season.
In the same interview, Patrice Evra stated that without Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United would have been nowhere this season. He strongly advised against selling Bruno, despite significant interest from clubs in the Middle East. Evra emphasized that instead of letting him go, the club should focus on adding firepower around Bruno and building a solid defense to allow him to perform at his best.
