Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has admitted that he once had a fist-fight with a teammate while on the books of the Red Devils. The Serbian is regarded as one of the greatest ever defenders to have played for the club and helped it win five league titles under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson. Vidic also played a key role in helping United win the Champions League in 2008, one of two which the club won under Ferguson.

Since 2008, United have not won Europe’s premier club competition.  During his time at Carrington, Vidic was known for his intensity. Like everyone, he was also human and had weak points, one of which was a fiery temper.

Speaking on the Overlap, the 43-year-old revealed that he once had a bust-up with Anderson,

"At Manchester United, I had one bust-up in the changing room and that was with Anderson. It was something on the pitch then it got transferred to the dressing room. It was no big deal."

Anderson, a former Brazil international, who made more than 100 Premier League appearances for United across eight years, is not the only player whom Vidic fell out with. He also fell out with Patrice Evra with the two not speaking for three months at one time, though they never came to blows. Since retiring from football in 2016, Vidic has taken up ventures outside of the game. One of which has involved financing several properties in Serbia along with former professional footballers.

He does remain loved at Old Trafford and to many fans of the club, he represents the “good old days” when the club dominated English football and was a major force on the world stage. Since the retirement of Ferguson in 2013, United have won domestic Cups and the Europa League. They have, however, never really challenged for the Premier League title or the Champions League.

The Red Devils remain in a state of rebuilding and endured their worst ever Premier League season last term under the management of Erik Ten Hag and Ruben Amorim as they finished 15th and just three points above the relegation zone.
