Manchester United attains another poor record after the defeat to Chelsea
Manchester United’s miseries are showing no respite. It has now become like when it rains, it pours. The Red Devils once again lost their Premier League fixture, this time to their rivals Chelsea, who are bidding for the UEFA Champions League spot. Marc Cucurella’s 71st-minute strike was enough for the Blues to take home all three points. With this defeat, Manchester United has booked their place in an infamous record, not fitting for the reputation and status of the club.
With the 18th defeat of the season, Manchester United will now end their season in the Premier League without two consecutive victories. The defeat also sees the Red Devils without a win in the Premier League for eight consecutive games. It is nothing but an absolutely shambolic season for the club. Rúben Amorim’s men started the game on a good note with Harry Maguire finding the back of the net before the half-hour mark, just to be ruled offside. While the game was uninspiring, the moment of brilliance ensured that the Blues remained on track with their Champions League qualification.
What did Ruben Amorim have to say about the upcoming Europa League finals?
Talking to the media about the finals, Ruben Amorim called out that he is very excited to be playing the game, and the club will be prepared for the same. He mentioned that the pressure is high from day one, but he has dealt with it well. While he highlighted the difficulties in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim mentioned that the players have stood up and shown up despite the miserable times. He said:
Of course, we are excited to be in the final. We will be prepared for the final. Since day one, the pressure is one I deal with quite well. Also the players at Manchester United know that. In the past, we've had some difficulties in the league but in the final, when you have a final of any cup, we show up. So we are prepared for that.
Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the finals of the Europa League on Wednesday (21st May), who will also be coming off the defeat in the Premier League to Aston Villa.
