According to recent reports, Manchester United and Everton are set to go head-to-head in the race to sign Wilfred Ndidi. Both clubs are looking to secure a deal for the Leicester City midfielder following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2024–25 season.

Everton are already keeping tabs on Leicester left-back Victor Kristiansen, and now it’s just surfaced that they’re looking at his teammate Wilfred Ndidi. The Toffees have held an interest in Ndidi in the past, and Moyes did consider bringing him to West Ham United at one stage.

Wilfred Ndidi has been a regular presence at the King Power Stadium since his €17.6 million move at the start of the 2016–17 season. During his time with Leicester City, he has won both the FA Cup and the EFL Championship. Reports suggest that the Nigerian midfielder is available for a fee of €11 million in the ongoing summer transfer window.

While Manchester United are well stocked in midfield with the likes of Manuel Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and Casemiro, the club is looking to add depth to cover for injuries. On the other hand, Everton’s new ownership under the Friedkin Group is expected to provide David Moyes with a significant budget to help transform the club’s fortunes.

Reports suggest that the new management is impressed with how Moyes has revitalized the team since his appointment and is keen to support his ambition to make Everton a top destination once again. Everton finished above Manchester United at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Everton are also interested in signing Wilfred Ndidi following the departure of Abdoulaye Doucouré, whose contract expired at the end of the 2024–25 season. Ndidi brings a wealth of experience in the Premier League, having made over 313 appearances and contributing 35 goals and assists during his time in England.

Who are other players linked with Everton?

Everton are also linked with Victor Kristiansen from Leicester City and Thierno Barry from Villareal. The Toffees are also linked with John Stones from Manchester City but it still is in doubt with Pep Guardiola yet to sanction the transfer.
