Kevin de Bruyne's teammates want him to stay at Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne may have scored his final Premier League goal at the Etihad in one of the most crucial fixtures of the campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers. While he graciously accepted the accolades, he emphasized that the decision to leave Manchester City at the end of the season was not his own.

The Belgian’s contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, and Manchester City is yet to offer an extension. It is widely assumed that he could be heading to the United States or the Middle East, following the path of other players nearing the end of their careers. In his post-game interview, De Bruyne acknowledged that he likely has just one home game remaining and pledged to give his best. De Bruyne said:

I try to play as much good football as I can. I know that I only have one home game left, but I just try to do my job and that's what I did today. 

Speaking about his teammates, the Belgian attacking midfielder mentioned that they are saddened by his departure, but he understands and accepts that this is simply how life unfolds. Kevin De Bruyne said:

A lot of team-mates have said that it's sad I have to go too, but that's just how it sometimes goes in life

Kevin de Bruyne opens up about his future beyond Manchester City

The 33-year-old attacking midfielder stated that he is yet to decide his future, but he believes he is still capable of playing in England. He expressed that he is enjoying his current form and remains focused on helping the team secure a Champions League spot. Following the win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City now sit four points clear of Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, and two points ahead of Newcastle United, having played one game more. He said:

I don't know what the future will be, but I know that I can still play here. I am still enjoying it, and we still have a job to do. It was a hard game today, but we found a way to win. Now we can just relax a bit and see what the other teams do
