Kevin De Bruyne bids Emotional farewell to Manchester City, joins Napoli on free transfer

One of the most interesting transfers of the summer window has now been settled. While speculations suggested that Kevin De Bruyne was bound for the United States or the Middle East, the Belgian has instead signed for Napoli on a Bosman transfer after the Cityzens chose not to renew his contract. Before he is set to don Napoli’s colors in the 2025/26 season, De Bruyne spoke about his time at Manchester City, describing it as “unbelievable.”

Speaking to the media, Kevin De Bruyne said he had been with the club for over a decade and expressed his happiness at being part of the team during its most successful period. He described the experience as an unbelievable ride and an absolute pleasure. He said:

It’s been unbelievable to have the 10 years that I had with everything that happened here. It’s been an unbelievable ride and an absolute pleasure

The 33-year-old Belgian international also shared that it was an ultimate joy to contribute to the club’s success. He said he is extremely proud to have played a major role in Manchester City’s achievements in both the Premier League and Europe. He also thanked Manchester for being his home over the past decade. He said:

It was a joy working really hard to try and help create something that brought the Club the success we enjoyed. I’m super proud to have played a part in that. Manchester has been my home and my family’s home for these past 10 years

In the same interview, Kevin De Bruyne thanked his teammates for pushing him every day to become the best version of himself. He mentioned that they have helped him grow into a much better player than he was before. He also expressed his gratitude to the fans, who have been a pillar of support ever since he arrived at the club. He said:

Everybody pushed me so hard inside and outside the club to be the best version of myself. They made me so much better than I was before.
