The FIFA Club World Cup has started in style with Bayern Munich thrashing Auckland City 10-0 in the second game of the campaign. After an entertaining 0-0 stalemate in the first-ever game of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, the second game lived up to expectations. Auckland City had no answer to the waves of attacks by the German giants. After the rout, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany stated

“We completed the task”, while also applauding his team.

Speaking to the media, Vincent Kompany mentioned that his side played a strong match and that the 10-goal difference could be important going ahead into the tournament. Kompany said:

"We completed the task. We played a strong match. We did what was necessary to win. The goal difference might be important in the group, so winning by 10 goals was crucial."

The former Manchester City player went on to say that it is an accomplishment to score ten goals when the opposition is playing defensively. Auckland City featured five defenders but could not stop the goals. Kompany also appreciated Jamal Musiala’s game and his return. He said:

When the opponent focuses defensively, it's not easy to score 10 goals. The return of Jamal Musiala was the most significant for me. It is a good foundation for the rest of the tournament

As it happened:

Bayern Munich started the game in the fourth gear. The German giants made the early inroads with Kingsley Coman finding the back of the net in the sixth minute. Sacha Boey doubled the lead in the 18th minute before Michael Olise and Coman made it 4-0 before the clock struck 21 minutes. When it felt like there were no more goals in the first half, Thomas Müller and Olise scored again to make it 6-0 at the end of the first half.

Even the second half was not easy. Kompany unleashed Jamal Musiala, who went on to score a hat-trick in just 17 minutes. The score was 9-0 by the 84th minute. Muller added one more goal to his name just before the final whistle to wrap up the game 10-0. Auckland City, on the other hand, had only one shot on target throughout the game.

Who are Bayern Munich playing next in the FIFA Club World Cup?

Bayern Munich will face Boca Juniors in the second game of the FIFA Club World Cup on 20th June.
