According to official publications from the Premier League and Brighton & Hove Albion, the Seagulls have secured the signing of the Greek wonderkid from Olympiacos. Brighton have landed Charalampos Kostoulas in a deal worth £29.8 million. The statement read:

Brighton & Hove Albion have officially secured the signing of Charalampos Kostoulas from Greek champions Olympiacos.

The 18-year-old will become the record signing among Greek internationals who have switched allegiances in recent years. This condition will only apply if the add-ons are triggered based on performance-related clauses. The previous record signing among Greek internationals was Kostas Manolas, who moved from Roma to Napoli in 2019 in a deal worth £30.63 million.

Hailing from a footballing family in Athens, Charalampos Kostoulas made his mark through AS Agia Anna. He is the son of former Greek international Athanasios Kostoulas, who played for Asteras Tripolis F.C. and Xanthi F.C. during his career. His brother, Konstantinos Kostoulas, also plays for Olympiacos and featured for Portuguese outfit Rio Ave in the 2024/25 season.

Rising through the ranks at Olympiacos, Charalampos Kostoulas earned his first professional contract in September 2022 before going on to win the UEFA Youth League with the same team. He made his senior debut just a year later in a Super League fixture against Volos NPS, helping his side secure a 2–0 victory. In the last campaign, he scored seven goals from 22 top-flight appearances.

What did Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Fabian Hurzeler, say about the new signing?

Elated with the new signing, the Seagulls gaffer mentioned that he is looking forward to working with the outstanding young player. He also added that the 18-year-old will offer another attacking dimension as he adapts to the new environment. Hurzeler said:

Charalampos is an outstanding young player and we’re delighted he is coming to Brighton. He wants to play in the Premier League and we are excited about what he can bring to the team.

He will give us different attacking options and we're looking forward to helping him adapt to his new environment.
