According to recent reports, Manchester United’s renowned yet out-of-favor forward, Marcus Rashford has continued to attract eyeballs across Europe. With Aston Villa not exercising the option to buy, Barcelona have shortlisted the English attacker as one of the four forwards to sign in the summer transfer window. Rashford is amongst the four choices, including Rafael Leao, Luis Diaz, and Julian Alvarez.

The English left winger doesn't seem to make it back to the Manchester United squad as he has fallen out of favor with Ruben Amorim after his training and off-the-field antics. Manchester United are looking to offload the player but they are yet to find a suitable party. Amidst these, Marcus Rashford’s brother, also his agent, has met Barcelona’s sporting director multiple times. On Wednesday, Marcus Rashford's brother was seen meeting Deco where a consensus and common receptiveness has been reached regarding the potential transfer.

On the other hand, speaking about the potential transfer, Fabrizio Romano had posted that the Manchester United player was keen on joining the Catalans in January itself but the financial constraints restricted the movement. However, the initial meeting after Barcelona lifting the title has emerged with the clubs looking to finalize the deal. Any fee in the region of £40 million should be able to conclude the deal

The transfer pundit, Fabrizio Romano, posted:

More on Marcus Rashford. He was already keen on joining Barcelona last January… and he remains very keen on the project. Positive feelings on player side again after new meeting, but still early stages club to club. Barça have more options + Man United insist on £40m.

While Manchester United look to have a cash deal, Barcelona might insist on a loan with an option to buy owing to their situation. The only roadblock to the deal seems to be the wages of Marcus Rashford, which is rumored to be in the range of £300k per week.

How did Marcus Rashford fare in the 2024/25 campaign?

Marcus Rashford had a turbulent 2024/25 campaign in the English Premier League, wearing multiple jerseys throughout the season. He began the campaign as a starter for Manchester United but soon fell out of favor with Ruben Amorim. Subsequently, he was loaned to Aston Villa, where he found form and settled well, only to suffer an injury towards the end of the campaign. Rashford finished the season with seven goals and six assists across all competitions.
