It has been some time since Yuzvendra Chahal set the rumor mills ablaze with his alleged relationship with RJ Mahvash. The cricketer-influencer duo has been spotted together multiple times, from watching the ICC Champions Trophy final together to Mahvash joining Chahal in the PBKS team bus during IPL 2025. Mahvash, however, has consistently denied dating the cricketer, calling him a close friend instead. The influencer, time and again, has taken aim at trolls for calling her a homewrecker and accusing her of using Chahal for clout. The timeline of Chahal and Mahvash's 'friendship', and the cricketer's divorce from Dhanashree Verma, did not add up ideally, leading to scrutiny for both Chahal and the influencer.

"People can think whatever they want to": Yuzvendra Chahal opens up on his bond with RJ Mahvash

Despite RJ Mahvash clarifying that their relationship is purely platonic, rumors persisted, especially amid Chahal’s separation from his wife, Dhanashree Verma. Many even speculated that Mahvash’s growing presence in Chahal’s life might have played a role in the split. Recently, Chahal addressed these rumors during a conversation. Speaking candidly on a podcast, he denied any romantic involvement with RJ Mahvash, stating that he is still healing from his previous relationship and isn’t ready to move on. He emphasized that he currently needs space and time for himself.

"No, there’s nothing. People can think whatever they want to think. It happened for the first time that I was seen with someone in public so people started speculating. We can’t start crying, if people link us up then so be it," Chahal said.

The cricketer also commented on the viral photograph taken during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai, which had sparked fresh gossip. He shared that ever since he and Mahvash were seen together publicly, assumptions were made about them being a couple. Despite Mahvash’s own denial, the narrative of a new romance persisted, with some even labeling her unfairly as a homewrecker. Yuzvendra Chahal expressed his distress over such allegations and called Mahvash a vital source of support during one of the most difficult phases in his life.

"She has also clarified. It was very hard for her. She was called house-breaker, homewrecker, all sorts of bad names, people asked why is she with Yuzi. I felt bad that the friend who helped me get out of this, I was linked up with her," the spinner explained.

Further elaborating on the timeline of these viral moments, Chahal recalled the widely circulated photo from Christmas 2024. According to him, it was a casual group dinner attended by five people, but the image was edited to show only him and Mahvash, falsely suggesting an intimate celebration. He also recounted an instance when she came to pick him up from the airport and they were briefly seen together at a hotel, which again led to unwarranted assumptions and gossip.

"Even if we were with friends, our cropped photos will be used. There were other friends but only our photos were used. We stopped going out with friends thinking one more story will appear,” he said.

Speaking from a place of emotion, Chahal revealed how painful it was to see Mahvash dragged into personal matters that had nothing to do with her. For him, she remained a consistent and uplifting presence when things were falling apart, and that, he said, meant more than what the rumors portrayed.

“I knew what social media is, but for her, it happened for the first time. If someone opens it, reads such comments about themselves, which is not even true, then they obviously feel bad."

“She said that, ‘Yuzi yaar, main Kahan?’ I am feeling so bad as a girl that people are saying such things about me. I tried explaining it to her that it’s social media, just ignore. Her entire work is on Instagram, plus her family kept questioning about what’s going on, and it affects people. Because I have been there, I knew this would happen.”
