While Punjab Kings have already qualified for the IPL 2025 playoffs, the tussle is tight among the final four to claim a Top 2 finish. A win in Jaipur would fortify the chances of PBKS to land a spot in Qualifier 1. Meanwhile, in a major update, Kings have dropped Yuzvendra Chahal from the PBKS Playing XI for the match against DC.

Shreyas Iyer joined the PBKS vs DC toss as Faf du Plessis filled in for an ill Axar Patel yet again. Faf won the toss and put Shreyas Iyer and Co. to bat first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Punjab Kings have called in Jos Inglis and Marcus Stoinis to the Playing XI. However, their leading spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, remained missing from the PBKS Playing XI. The leg-spinner was not listed in the impact subs list as well.

The PBKS captain failed to speak on the spinner's absence. It remains unclear whether it's an injury that has pushed Chahal away from the PBKS vs DC match. So far, the spinner has scalped 14 wickets in 13 matches, including a hat-trick against CSK earlier in IPL 2025. The spinner remains crucial in the PBKS lineup as the playoffs approach. Meanwhile, Harpreet Brar has kept his place in the team, set to provide spin assistance to Punjab Kings.
