Indian cricketing icon Virat Kohli, who has been residing in London, returned to New Delhi on Tuesday, October 14, ahead of India’s much-anticipated ODI tour of Australia. The 36-year-old is set to rejoin the national squad for the three-match series, marking his return to competitive cricket after a long break. Kohli last played for India on March 9, 2025, during a match in Dubai, and his comeback has generated significant excitement among fans and cricket pundits alike. Kohli will travel with the Indian team from Delhi to Australia on Wednesday, October 15. The ODI series is scheduled to begin on October 19 at the Optus Stadium in Perth, followed by the second match in Adelaide on October 23 and the final game in Sydney on October 25.

Virat Kohli, India’s second-highest run-scorer in ODI history, is set to play under the captaincy of Shubman Gill for the first time during the upcoming three-match series against Australia. This marks a significant moment as Kohli, with 14,181 runs in 302 ODIs, is just 54 runs away from surpassing Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, who ended his career with 14,234 runs in 404 matches. Achieving this milestone would place Kohli second on the all-time ODI run-scorers list, behind only the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, famously known as the ‘God of Cricket’.
