Travis Head set to miss the LSG vs SRH IPL 2025 match
The resumption of IPL 2025 will kick off with a bummer for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although already out of the playoffs qualification race, SRH have three matches left to play at the group stage. Following the suspension of IPL 2025 due to the India-Pakistan conflict, several overseas players decided against returning to India for the resumption. While Mitchell Starc confirmed his unavailability for Delhi Capitals, Australian skipper Pat Cummins and Travis Head promised to join the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp. With SRH out of the IPL 2025 playoffs, the remaining schedule won't hinder the Australians' preparation for the WTC Final. However, in the latest update, the management confirmed that Travis Head is unfit to play the LSG vs SRH IPL 2025 match.
Travis Head has contracted COVID-19, will miss the LSG vs SRH IPL 2025 match: Daniel Vettori
Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Travis Head is set to miss the team’s upcoming IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants, as he is yet to arrive in India. SRH head coach Daniel Vettori shared the development on Sunday, revealing that the Australian left-hander is expected to land in India on Monday morning. It remains uncertain whether he will be available for the final two matches of the season. According to Vettori, Head’s delayed arrival is due to a COVID-19 infection. The coach confirmed the diagnosis but did not specify the exact date when Head tested positive for the virus.
“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning, he was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel, so he’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori told in the press conference.
Currently placed eighth on the points table, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on LSG at Ekana on Monday before wrapping up their league campaign with matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders. With 11 points in 11 matches, SRH is already out of the race. Travis Head has struggled to replicate his explosive form from previous seasons, managing only 281 runs in IPL 2025 so far.
The team that made it to last year’s final has failed to click this time around. The much-hyped batting order of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen has failed to deliver collectively. In most matches, the unit faltered in sync, lacking the consistency required at this level. These underwhelming batting displays have significantly contributed to SRH’s underperformance in IPL 2025. Following in the footsteps of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, they became the third team to crash out of playoff contention.
