The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had scheduled a felicitation ceremony inside the stadium to honour the RCB players, returning victorious from Ahmedabad. However, the turnout far exceeded expectations. A large number of fans arrived without valid passes, attempting to breach security barriers in a desperate bid to witness the event. Eyewitness accounts described chaotic scenes of people climbing fences and scaling the outer walls of the stadium as crowd pressure mounted.
Despite continuous efforts by police personnel to maintain order and control the crowds, the situation escalated. Repeated public warnings went unheeded as fans pressed forward, ignoring safety instructions. To regain control and disperse volatile groups, law enforcement officials initiated a mild lathi-charge in certain areas. While some individuals were treated for minor injuries, authorities maintained that there were no serious casualties reported until later in the evening.
Elsewhere in the city, the frenzy spilled over into the public transport system. The Bengaluru Metro bore the brunt of the surge, especially along the Purple Line. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation had to issue urgent advisories, repeatedly asking commuters to avoid boarding full trains. The combination of clogged metro stations, traffic diversions, and roadblocks caused widespread delays, affecting commuters and emergency responders alike. Visuals circulating online showed throngs of fans spilling out onto platforms and surrounding roads.
