The Punjab Kings displayed a royal performance against the five-time champions, ensuring they received two shots in reaching the final. On a good batting surface in Jaipur, Punjab restricted Mumbai Indians to a below-par score of 184. It hasn't been a great season for Rohit Sharma, who once again struggled to get going. The Hitman tried but failed to find his groove, eventually getting out for 24 off 21. His partner, Ryan Rickleton (27 off 20), though, looked good during his stay, helping MI go past the 50-run mark inside the powerplay. Coming in at three, Suryakumar Yadav needed to capitalize in the middle overs but Punjab Kings didnāt allow him to access his favourite region too easily. Shreyas Iyer rotated his bowlers brilliantly and his troops responded well too.
Vijaykumar Vyshak, Harpreet Brar, and Marco Jansen ensured they didn't bowl in his arc as they varied their lengths brilliantly. Vijaykumar Vyshak was brilliant in his first three overs. He first sent Tilak Varma back with a brilliant knuckle ball bowled fuller outside the off stump. Will Jacks counter-attacked with an 8-ball 17 but the Punjab pacer also sent him back soon. Despite not being able to find the gaps with ease, Suryakumar Yadav was trying hard to keep the scoreboard ticking but wickets kept falling at the other end. After 18 overs, MI huffed and puffed to 158 for 5.
But Naman Dhir and Suryakumar tore apart Vyshak in his final over as the 19th over went for 23 runs. It looked like Mumbai might reach the 200 mark after that over but Arshdeep Singh, once again, showed his death-over skills, giving just three runs in the final over and also picking the wickets of both Suryakumar Yadav (57 off 39) and Naman Dhir (20 off 12). That over proved crucial in the context of the game as 15-20 runs more would have given Mumbai a bit more confidence. Arshdeep Singh returned with sensational figures of 2 for 28 runs in four overs, while Marco Jansen picked crucial wickets of Rickleton and Hardik Pandya.
Punjab Kings have scored 200-plus totals for fun in the IPL 2025 and chasing anything less than that wouldn't be challenging for them. Deepak Chahar started first over with a maiden but felt discomfort in his hamstring. His next two overs went for 28 runs. After Punjab didnāt lose a wicket in the first three overs, Bumrah was called upon and he sent Prabhsimran Singh back to the hut. However, Hardik Pandya and Co. failed to pick a single wicket in the next 58 deliveries.

Josh Inglis joined hands with Priyansh Arya and the duo stitched a match-winning partnership of 109 runs for the second wicket. Skipper Hardik tried all his bowlers but to no avail. They were guilty of bowling too many bad balls and the Punjab duo made full use of that. While other bowlers went for runs all around the ground, Jasprit Bumrah once again came back unscathed. He conceded just 23 runs in his four overs with a wicket to his name. He was again economical but even he couldnāt break the partnership.
Josh Inglis hit his first fifty in IPL 2025 off just 27 balls and carried on to play a stellar knock of 73 off 42 balls. On the other hand, Priyansh Arya continued his fine run in the competition as produced another top knock of 62 off 35. Courtesy of that partnership, Punjab Kings chased down the score in 18.3 overs.
