More trouble for Yash Dayal; suspended from UP T20 League
Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Yash Dayal is currently facing a tumultuous period, with two FIRs filed against him on charges related to sexual exploitation. Following the second FIR that has been filed against him, alleging sexual assault on a minor in Jaipur, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Board has now banned him from participating in the upcoming UP T20 League. The tournament is scheduled to start on 17th August 2025. Gorakhpur Lions had roped in Dayal for a prize of INR 7 lakhs. However, his recent charges of sexual exploitation have left his professional cricket career in serious trouble.
What’s happening regarding Yash Dayal’s legal situation?
Yash Dayal first made headlines after a case was registered against him by the Uttar Pradesh Police Station after a woman accused Dayal of prolonged emotional and physical abuse. In her complaint, the woman said that Yash Dayal “repeatedly made false promises of marriage” and “established physical relations under that pretext.” A few weeks later, a second FIR was lodged against him in Jaipur. He was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor in 2023 and then again in a Jaipur hotel in April this year.
"It is alleged that around two years ago, when the complainant was a minor, he raped her on multiple occasions after offering to help build her cricket career. This year, he contacted her again when he was in Jaipur on IPL duty, called her to his hotel and allegedly raped her there." SHO of Sangeeta Sardar Police Station in Jaipur Anil Kumar Jaiman said.
The court denied a stay on his arrest and any police action, citing the sensitive nature of the case involving a minor. The next hearing is scheduled for August 22.
Yash Dayal was part of RCB’s IPL 2025 victorious campaign
Yash Dayal was a vital part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team that won the 2025 Indian Premier League season. He played a pivotal role in the team’s victory, picking 13 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 36.15. He made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans in the 2022 season against Rajasthan Royals. He didn’t have a great time playing for GT, but the left-arm seamer’s bowling stocks saw a rise after he was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2024 season for a sum of INR 5 crore.
He delivered a brilliant performance that season, claiming 15 wickets in 14 matches at 30.60.
