A long-awaited scene turned true at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as another thrilling IPL season concluded. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally broke an 18-year-long curse to lift their maiden IPL trophy. Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB beat PBKS by 6 runs to take the trophy home as historic visuals unfolded with Virat Kohli finally laying his hands on the coveted trophy. Following the emphatic celebration, the turn arrived to felicitate the best performers of the season. Sai Sudharsan nearly marked a sweep at the accolades, winning the Orange Cap, the award for most 4s in the season, and the Fantasy King of IPL 2025. Meanwhile, Sudharsan's teammate at Gujarat Titans, Prasidh Krishna, claimed the Purple Cap.

IPL 2025 comes to a historic conclusion as RCB lifts maiden trophy

The IPL 2025 Final was one thrilling encounter. RCB were put to bat first as Shreyas Iyer won the toss in Ahmedabad. Kyle Jamieson made early strikes to rattle RCB as Virat Kohli took to his anchor role in the batting order. However, the assurance of a big finish was shattered when Azmatullah Omarzai trapped Kohli in a caught-and-bowled attempt. The innings concluded with Omarzai and Arshdeep Singh silencing the RCB attack at the death as a 191-run chase shaped up in the IPL 2025 final. The total looked easily penetrable for PBKS, who arrived in the final on the back of a successful 204-run chase against MI in Qualifier 2.

However, the chase fared in stark contrast to the anticipations. PBKS were rattled by the spin brilliance of Krunal Pandya, who turned the match on its head with his 2/17 spell. Shepherd claimed the captain and the hero of the last chase, Iyer, at a measly 1 off 2. The last remaining fight in Punjab's cause was curbed with the fall of Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis.

With 30 to defend in the last over, it was a done deal for RCB. Shashank emerged with a fight, however, a bit too late, as PBKS eventually fell short by 6 runs. Virat Kohli, meanwhile, spent almost the whole of the last over with tears in his eyes as his 18-year-long dream finally materialised into reality. Krunal Pandya was rewarded the "Player of the Match" award for the IPL 2025 final as the focus shifted to the award-winners of the season.

Orange Cap - Sai Sudharsan

Gujarat Titans entered the IPL 2025 playoffs on the back of a consistent run from the top order across the season. Meanwhile, the most consistent of them all was the young opener Sai Sudharsan. Opening along with the GT captain, Shubman Gill, Sudharsan took the lead, piling up impactful runs match after match. IPL 2025 termed GT as a side whose success was based on the performance of the top order. The belief was paid back by the trio of Gill, Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler. Until Gujarat Titans bowed out of the tournament with a defeat against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator, Sudharsan had piled up over 750 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav came close, but with MI eliminated in Qualifier 2, Sudharsan remained at the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard. With one century to his credit, Sudharsan scored 759 runs in 15 innings, at an average of 54.21. Moreover, the batter maintained a strike rate of 156.71 and piled up 8 half-centuries in the season. The next batter in the list, SKY, remained 42 runs short of Sudharsan at the conclusion of IPL 2025.

Purple Cap - Prasidh Krishna

Gujarat Titans laid a sort of monopoly on the felicitation ceremony, claiming the majority of top accolades. Prasidh Krishna was rewarded the Purple Cap of the season. In a season where the GT batters made the headlines with their performances, the likes of Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj extended their underrated exploits in the bowling department. Krishna proved significantly valuable for the side, remaining economical with his spells. By the time GT exited IPL 2025, Krishna had scalped 25 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 19.52, with the best figures of 4/41.

Emerging Player of the Season - Sai Sudharsan

The 23-year-old, one of the core prospects in the GT lineup since the team's inception in 2022, Sudharsan left an indelible mark on IPL 2025. For his consistent knocks across the team's run, which included a fighting 81-run knock against MI in the Eliminator, the batter was rewarded the 'Emerging Player of the Season' award.

Most Valuable Player of the Season - Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav was the top performer for Mumbai Indians in the season where they scripted the ultimate comeback. From losing 4 out of their first five matches, MI maintained an unbeaten streak of 6 matches, claiming a spot in the playoffs. Meanwhile, SKY's exploits in the middle, amid the hot-and-cold blowing top order, remained a certainty in MI's batting order. In the course of playing 16 matches in IPL 2025, SKY went on to smash multiple long-standing records. The MI batter closed in on the record for the most number of 25+ run knocks consecutively.

Moreover, Suryakumar Yadav smashed the record for scoring the most runs for Mumbai Indians in a season, overcoming the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar himself. In Qualifier 2 against PBKS, SKY dashed the record of AB de Villiers as the highest run-scoring non-opener in a season. As MI concluded their IPL 2025 run in Qualifier 2, SKY finished the season with 717 runs in 16 innings, scored at an average of 65.18 and a strike rate of 167.91.
