SIGNING OFF IN STYLE! The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have ended their Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) campaign in a sizzling fashion having registered a comprehensive 83-run victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was an impressive all-round effort both in the batting as well as bowling departments by the Chennai Super Kings in their last league match. This is only the fourth victory in the ongoing edition of the tournament for the MS Dhoni-led CSK team from a total of 14 matches. However, the race for a top-two finish has become really interesting as all of the four qualified teams, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are yet to confirm those two spots.

Chennai Super Kings end their IPL 2025 campaign with a fitting farewell

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Chennai Super Kings got off to a fantastic start as their swashbuckling opener Ayush Mhatre went all guns blazing right from the word go. Mhatre played an exciting cameo of 34 runs off just 17 balls that included 3 sixes and as many fours to set the tempo from the top. On the other hand, Devon Conway also played a fine innings of 52 runs off 35 balls that consisted of 6 fours and 2 sixes to provide a solid foundation.

During the middle overs, the duo of Urvil Patel and Shivam Dube smacked the opposition bowlers all around the park to keep the scoreboard ticking. Urvil scored 37 runs off 19 deliveries while Dube smacked 17 runs off 8 balls. However, it was once again Dewald Brevis who was the top-scorer for the Chennai Super Kings, having contributed with a superb knock of 57 runs off just 23 balls that included 5 sixes and 4 fours. Towards the end, Ravindra Jadeja smashed an unbeaten 21 runs off 18 deliveries to help the Chennai Super Kings finish with a massive score of 230 for 5 in their quota of 20 overs.

In reply, the Gujarat Titans had the worst possible start inside the first six overs of the powerplay where they ended up losing three big wickets in the form of skipper Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford. After losing early wickets at the top, the Gujarat Titans never really got any momentum in their innings. The Chennai Super Kings' bowlers kept on taking wickets at regular intervals to dent the opposition.

Eventually, the Gujarat Titans bundled out for a nominal total of 147 runs in 18.3 overs with Sai Sudharsan ending as the top-scorer having smashed 41 runs off 28 deliveries. For the Chennai Super Kings, the duo of Noor Ahmad and Anshul Kamboj picked up three wickets each while Jadeja also took two scalps.

"It's good. I won't say it was housefull today, but decent crowd. It's a very big stadium. We didn't have a good season, but was good to finish on a winning note. It was one of those perfect performances in the bowling department and the batting department. We haven't caught very well, but this was one game where our fielding and catching was good. It (whether he will play next season) depends. I have 4-5 months to decide, there's no hurry to decide what needs to be done. Every year it's more effort to keep the body fit. You have to be at your best, this is top level cricket. It's professional cricket.

It's not always performance you can count. If cricketers start retiring because of their performances, some of them will retire at the age of 22. What is important to see how much hunger you have and how fit you are. How much you can contribute for the team. Whether the team needs or not, so I have enough time. Will go back to Ranchi, haven't been home for a while, so I will enjoy a few bike rides and then decide. I am not saying I am done, not saying I am coming back at the same time. I have the luxury of time. Will think about it and then decide," said Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni after the game.
