IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah cleans up Joe Root with a beauty - WATCH
World No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah is spearheading India’s pace attack in the third Test against England at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The right-arm pacer, known for his lethal precision and unorthodox action, made an early impact in the match. On the opening day, Thursday (July 10), Bumrah struck with a crucial breakthrough by dismissing England’s top batter and current world No. 1 Test batsman, Harry Brook, who managed just 11 runs. Bumrah’s clinical spell continued into Day 2, as he showcased his mastery with the red ball during the morning session.
The ace Indian fast bowler picked up three important wickets, putting England’s batting lineup on the back foot and firmly tilting the momentum in India’s favour. His consistent pace, swing, and ability to extract bounce from the Lord’s surface made it extremely challenging for English batters to settle. Bumrah’s performance has once again reinforced his status as a match-winner and a leader of India’s bowling unit in overseas conditions. With the pitch offering some assistance to seamers and Bumrah in top form, India will be hoping for a strong first-innings performance to take control of the Test match early on.

On Day 2 of the India vs England Lord’s Test, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a fiery spell that turned the tide in India’s favour. He first struck in the 86th over, clean bowling England captain Ben Stokes with a beauty that beat him all ends up. Then, without wasting time, Bumrah struck again on the very first ball of his next over—the 88th of England’s innings—dismissing Joe Root. The veteran batter, who is England’s all-time leading Test run-scorer, was bowled through the gate after a gritty knock of 104 off 199 balls, which included 10 boundaries. He also dismissed Chris Woakes, to pick three vital wickets in the opening session on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test.
Jasprit Bumrah added another feather to his cap on Friday at Lord’s by dismissing Joe Root for the 11th time in Test cricket. With this wicket, Bumrah has now equaled Australia’s Pat Cummins for the most dismissals of Root in the format. No other bowler has dismissed the former England captain more times in Tests than Bumrah and Cummins. Root, regarded as one of the finest Test batters of this generation, has often struggled against the sharp accuracy and pace of Bumrah. Close behind them is Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who has dismissed Root 10 times.
