England captain Ben Stokes has won the toss and invited India to bat first in the third Test match, scheduled at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. England announced their playing XI yesterday with Jofra Archer coming back to the Test team after recovering from injury. He has replaced Josh Tongue while the rest of the team remains the same. On the other hand, India have brought back their lead fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the team. Head coach Gautam Gambhir had earlier mentioned that Bumrah will only play three Tests in the series to manage his workload.

He was rested for the second Test match due to the same and has now been brought back for the all-important Lord’s Test. The speedster featured in the first Test and pulled off a brilliant performance, picking five wickets in the first innings. However, he went wicketless in the final innings of the Test match and, as a result, England managed to chase down a mammoth 371-run target on the last day.

Akash Deep replaced Bumrah in the second Test and exhibited a sensational performance to help India register a 336-run win. He picked up ten wickets in the match and left England batters clueless with the seam movement. His second-innings spell of 6 for 99 led to England getting bundled out for just 271, thereby winning the game by a massive margin.

Akash Deep’s brilliant performance has helped him retain his place in the playing XI for the third Test match at Lord’s. Prasidh Krishna, who hasn’t impressed a lot with his bowling exploits in the two Tests, has been dropped to make way for Bumrah. Notably, this is the only change India have made to their playing XI.

There have been calls over Kuldeep Yadav’s inclusion in the playing XI. However, the management has continued to back Washington Sundar, who gives them an extra cushion in the batting, besides being handy with the ball.

Here’s a look at India’s playing XI for the third Test against England:

India: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
