Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh is poised to take on a more significant role in cricket administration. The Punjab Cricket Association has nominated 'Turbunator' as its delegate for the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled for September 28. The AGM will see elections for five key positions within the Board, with a number of prominent names expected to participate. Along with Harbhajan, the Cricket Association of Bengal has nominated Sourav Ganguly as its representative, the former India captain who previously held the post of BCCI President.

The main agenda of the AGM of the BCCI will revolve around the election and appointment of the board's senior office-bearers, including the President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. Additionally, members will decide on one General Body nominee for the Apex Council and select two individuals for the IPL Governing Council.

For Harbhajan Singh, this marks his debut as PCA’s official representative, although he has already been serving the body in an advisory role. Earlier, he was appointed as an advisor to the Punjab Cricket Association before being elevated to represent his parent state unit at the national level. Harbhajan is regarded as one of India’s finest off-spinners.

Across a distinguished international career, he represented India in 103 Tests, 236 ODIs, and 28 T20Is, collecting 711 wickets in total. His Test career alone brought him 417 wickets at an average of 32.46, including 25 five-wicket hauls and five instances of ten wickets in a match. In limited-overs formats, he bagged 269 wickets in ODIs and 25 wickets in T20Is.

Meanwhile, a circular sent to all state associations outlined the timeline for nominations. September 12 has been set as the deadline for submitting representative names. Official nominations may be filed on September 20 and 21, with candidates allowed to withdraw until September 23. Elections will then take place on September 28. The electoral officer has further directed that all nominees must disclose any posts previously or currently held within the BCCI.

"An Information Sheet from the Representative specifying all Elective Posts held by the Representative in the BCCI and/or any Full Member of the BCCI Previously and/or Currently, along with the Name of the Elective Posts and Tenures of such positions. The Information in this regard is to be submitted in the prescribed Form C signed by the Representative and Duly attested by a Notary/Oath Commissioner," says the notification.
