Ayush Mhatre or Vaibhav Suryavanshi? Ambati Rayudu tells who will make India debut first
Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu has heaped massive praise on the young Indian rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi. In a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Rayudu was asked to choose one between Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi as to who would make the debut for India team first. Ambati Rayudu reckoned that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has a better chance of getting into the Indian team first. The Chennai Super Kings batter shed light on Suryavanshi’s impressive bat speed and compared that with great Brian Lara.
Suryavanshi’s bat speed reminds Rayudu of the West Indies legend. The former Indian batter believes that if the 14-year-old manages to control the speed of the bat in a bid to master his defensive game, then he can become a star in world cricket.
“His bat speed is extraordinary. Jo uska whip aata hai… I hope nobody changes that. He should get better. Someone like Lara… maybe go and talk to him. He also had a similar type of bat lift. So he can learn about how to control the bat speed when you are defending and when you are playing with a soft hand. So if he learns that, then he will be an extraordinary talent." Ambati Rayudu said.
“He only has to focus on one thing, and that is he should not listen to many people. Don’t listen to people; just back your talent. And for coaches also, it is important that usko jyada gyaan mat do. Leave him," he added.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored the second-fastest hundred in IPL 2025
Social media couldn’t stop talking about Vaibhav Suryavanshi after he was bought for a massive sum of INR 1.10 crore by the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2025 auction. With Sanju Samson getting injured, Suryavanshi got the chance to be part of the playing XI in seven games. He amassed 252 runs at a strike rate of over 200.
The opener showcased his fearless striking ability in his first few games but left the cricket world in awe after he scored a sensational century off just 35 balls against the Gujarat Titans, becoming the fastest Indian batter to achieve the feat in IPL history. Overall, it was the second fastest hundred, only behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton.
