Number-one-ranked Jannik Sinner outmuscled Daniil Medvedev 6-1, 6-4 on Thursday to book his spot in the Shanghai Masters semi-finals. In a highly anticipated showdown, Sinner triumphed over Daniil Medvedev, securing victory in straight sets.

After a dominant performance in the Shanghai Masters quarter-finals, Sinner expressed immense pride in his game. Speaking to the media, he emphasized how satisfied he felt with his performance and the big strides he has made.

"Obviously I'm very happy how I handled today and this match," Sinner said. "It felt like he had a bit of shoulder pain and couldn't hit his forehand as well as he wished to. Hopefully he can recover as fast as possible, but from my side it was a great match, a great battle, and let's see what I can do now in the semifinals." Sinner said.

Throughout the match, Sinner delivered nine aces and committed no double faults, avoiding any unnecessary mistakes. He also capitalized on three out of four break points, showcasing his sharp focus and effective strategy.

Sinner is likely to face his chief rival, Carlos Alcaraz, in the semi-final, which could be a rematch from the China Open last week or he could face Tomas Machac.

“It felt like he had a bit of shoulder pain”- Sinner emphathised on Medvedev’s physical pain

Sinner noted that his opponent struggled with shoulder pain, which made it hard for him to hit his forehand. Moving ahead, the former is hoping to put in a great show in the semis.

"It felt like he had a bit of shoulder pain and couldn't hit his forehand as well as he wished to. Hopefully he can recover as fast as possible, but from my side it was a great match, a great battle, and let's see what I can do now in the semifinals." he added.

With this significant victory, Sinner has leveled the head-to-head record against Medvedev at 7-7. Sinner suffered defeats in his first six meetings with Medvedev up until the 2023 Miami final. However, the Italian has managed to secure victories in seven of the eight matches, since. The rivalry is clearly shifting in Sinner’s favour, suggesting a revolution in the game.
