Paris Olympics 2024: Indian runners fail to win a medal in men's 20km race walk
India's Vikash Singh and Paramjeet Singh finished poorly 30th and 37th positions respectively while national record-holder Akshdeep Singh pulled out after the 6km mark as Indian race walkers produced a very disappointing performance in the 20km race walk event at the Paris Olympics 2024 here on Thursday, August 1. To be honest, when it comes to India Olympics medals, the Indian runners were never in contention. Vikash Singh clocked 1:22:36 and ranked 30th in the men's 20km race walk. Talking about the race. Brian Daniel Pintado of Ecuador completed the race in 1 hour and 18 minutes (1:18:55) and clinched the Gold medal. It remains to be seen how Priyanka Goswami, silver medallist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, will be competing in the Women's 20km Race Walk event.

Indian Athletics contingent: Neeraj Chopra is India's best medal prospect at the Paris Olympics 2024
Neeraj Chopra stands as India's top medal contender in Paris, having maintained an impressive streak of podium finishes since his gold win in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Despite an injury setback, Neeraj's consistency is expected to shine through. A minor adductor strain had sidelined Chopra from some events ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024, but his coach Klaus Bartonietz confirmed he's now fully recovered. Ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the world's elite javelin throwers have been hitting the 87-89m range, but Neeraj is yet to achieve a 90m throw. Despite fewer appearances this year, his 88.36m throw at the Doha Diamond League remains among the top throws of the 2024 season.
Talking about the Olympic India schedule, the tricoloured nation has already won three medals in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Manu Bhaker has scripted history as the first Indian post-Independence era to win two medals at the same Olympics. She is also the third individual athlete from India to win two medals, winning bronze in the women's 10m Air Pistol event on Sunday followed by the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh on Tuesday. Amidst all the excitement of watching our Indian athletes taking on the Track and Field events, the onus is now on Neeraj Chopra, who is one of India's strongest medal contenders.
नमस्कार, Paris! 🇮🇳🇫🇷
