Get ready for the Paris Olympics 2024 which is scheduled to take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in France. Although, certain matches will begin on July 24th, 2024. But before the start of the marquee event, let's take a look at the previous year's Olympics, which was played in Tokyo Japan, in 2020. Through this article, we're going to read all about the Tokyo Olympics 2024.

The Tokyo Olympics 2020, officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, were held in Tokyo, Japan, from July 23 to August 8, 2021, after being delayed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It included 339 events and 33 sports, including the return of baseball and softball in the main event as well as new activities like sport climbing, karate, skateboarding, and surfing. Competing athletes represented 206 countries and over 11,000 athletes, showcasing perseverance and the spirit of globalisation.

Because it took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, venues were almost completely empty to stop the virus from spreading. Strict health precautions were put in place, including regular testing, mask laws, and limitations on spectators. In spite of this, the Games featured the greatest sporting achievements and a number of records.

One of the best highlights includes when gymnast Simone Biles prioritised mental health, swimmer Caeleb Dressel won five gold medals, and sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah secured a historic sprint double. In this year's Olympics Hosts nation Japan achieved its best-ever medal haul, finishing third in the medal standings.
