Haryana Steelers announce captain, vice-captain for PKL Season 12

Defending champions Haryana Steelers have announced Jaydeep Dahiya as their new captain for the Pro Kabaddi League season 12, while his ally Vikas Kandola has been named as the vice-captain of the side.

​Haryana Steelers is one of the strongest teams in the Pro Kabaddi League. They have put in commendable performances on the mat since making their debut in the 2014 season. The Steelers made their debut in season five and have reached the playoffs in four out of seven seasons.

​Having finished runners-up last season, Haryana Steelers won the Pro Kabaddi League 2024-25 title after beating Patna Pirates in the final. Ahead of a new season, the Haryana Steelers would be aiming for their second consecutive title.

​They have retained head coach Manpreet Singh, who has had a remarkable journey as a coach in the Pro Kabaddi League so far. Here’s what he has to say on Jaideep Dahiya and Vikas Kandola being picked as the captain and vice-captain of the side.

​ “Kabaddi is a game that demands unity and quick decision-making, and both Jaideep and Rahul bring those qualities to the mat. Both have been essential to our success last season, on and off the mat. Their discipline, consistency and exceptional performances inspired the squad and set the benchmark on how we want to tackle this season.  With new vigour and focus, the Dhaakad Boys are back this season – we are confident to defend our title and lift the trophy again."

Haryana Steelers starting 7 for PKL Season 12

​Haryana Steelers have retained the core group but, unfortunately, had to let go of their star all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui. His absence is likely to prove costly, given the impact he has had on both sides of the mat in the last few years. ​They have retained the likes of Shivam Matare and Vinay Tewatia as their two prominent raiders. The defending champions have added another experienced campaigner, Naveen Kumar, to strengthen their raiding department.

​Skipper Jaydeep Daiya should retain his spot at the left cover. Vice-captain Rahul Sethpal will have an important role to play at the right corner position. At the other end, Hardeep could be seen in the right corner position.

​Raiders – Naveen Kumar, Vinay Tewatia, and Shivam Patare.

​Defenders – Rahul Sethpal (Right Corner), Hardeep (Left Corner), N Manikandan (Right Cover), and Jaideep Dahiya (Left Cover).
