Best known for its luxury sports cars and association with James Bond, the British brand's F1 story has evolved from a short-lived start at the initial stages to propping itself as a serious contender. With bold leadership under billionaire Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin has carved out a distinct identity in the biggest motor sport league. After decades on the sidelines, the team made a grand return to the F1 grid in 2021, as a new outfit, but as a rebranding of Racing Point, stemming from the remains of former teams like Force India and Jordan. A brief history of Aston Martin

Aston Martin first entered Formula 1 back in 1959–60 but failed to make a significant impact. After decades away, the brand returned in 2021 when Lawrence Stroll rebranded his Racing Point team into Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team. The team operates from Silverstone, England, and uses Mercedes power units.

Notable Drivers and Champions

Though Aston Martin hasn’t won a championship yet, the team gained massive attention in 2021 by signing Sebastian Vettel, a four-time world champion. Vettel drove for two seasons before retiring in 2022. His presence brought credibility and experience to the team. The current star, Fernando Alonso, is also a two-time world champion and one of the most celebrated names in F1. Aston Martin is technically the evolution of the Force India, the Racing Point team lineage. In 2023, Aston Martin made a huge leap forward with six podiums, all by Alonso. The team is part-owned by Lawrence Stroll, whose son Lance Stroll is also a full-time driver.

Aston Martin had a breakthrough year in 2023, finishing 5th in the Constructors' Championship, a big jump from previous seasons. In 2024 and early 2025, the team has faced stiffer competition from resurgent rivals like McLaren and Ferrari. While podiums have been harder to come by, Aston Martin remains a midfield threat capable of upsetting the frontrunners on the right day.
