Liverpool have enjoyed one of the best campaigns in their Premier League history, winning the title with four games to spare. In the final weeks, they also secured contract extensions for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who have been cornerstones of Liverpool's rise in recent years. Amidst these developments, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was in the final year of his contract, agreed to join Real Madrid on a Bosman transfer. While this came as a heartbreak for many, Alexander-Arnold broke down after the reception he received in his final game as a Liverpool player.

On Sunday against Crystal Palace, the English full-back revealed that he had requested the manager to let him play for the club one last time, where he received a vociferous reception. He went on to say that he had never felt more loved and cared for. He also thanked the fans for recognizing the hard work he had put in for the club and the team. Trent said:

I wanted to play for the club one more time,“I told the manager, and he trusted me. The reception means so much to me. I have never felt more loved and more cared for than today. I hope that one day the fans are able to recognise the hard work I put in for this team.

Speaking about his journey with Liverpool, he mentioned that two decades is a very long time. Trent joined the club in his formative years and went on to win multiple Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League. He said he loved every second of it and that it was always a privilege to be part of the club. He described it as the best day of his life. Trent said:

From six to 26, 20 years is a very long time. I have loved every second of it, it has been an honour and a privilege to be a part of this club. I’ll remember these moments for the rest of my life. This day will go down as the best in my life.

Who has Liverpool identified as Trent's replacement?

According to recent reports, Liverpool are in talks with AFC Bournemouth to secure the services of Milos Kerkez, aiming to fill the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
