Ruben Amorim reveals real reason behind signing Benjamin Sesko
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has shared his first thoughts on their new signing Benjamin Sesko. The 22-year-old striker has been roped in by the Red Devils from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £66.4m. In a bid to overcome their goal-striking woes, United have brought in Sesko as their third attacking signing in the summer transfer window. Earlier, they had recruited the likes of Matheus Cunha for £62.5m from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo, who joined from Brentford for £65m with £6m in add-ons. Meanwhile, United manager Ruben Amorim has shared his first thoughts on Benjamin, giving insights on what he brings to the table.
"He has the characteristics that we needed," Amorim told MUTV's Liam Bradford.
"Ben is a player - with all the information that we have - that we need to stop the guy from working, not the opposite!
"So that is also important. He's really young. He's good in the air, he's good at running the channels, good on the ball. I think he has great potential. I think he can improve a lot and, for sure, he is going to feel at home in our club.
"He has the right character to be in this group, so I'm really happy to have him."
Benjamin Sesko has made rapid strides in the last couple of years. He is the highest goal-scorer among all strikers under the age of 23 across all top five Europe football leagues. The 22-year-old was brilliant last season for RB Leipzig, scoring 21 goals and registering six assists.
“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future.” Benjamin said upon arrival.
