Lamine Yamal has taken Europe and world football by storm in the recently concluded season. The Spanish teenager has been one of the shining lights for the club amidst their stellar campaign, with the club winning the domestic treble. While he stole the show on the right flank and the attack, Yamal also opened up about the two best midfielders who ran the show in the 2024/25 season.

The question about the best midfielder was propped up during an interview with a sports outlet where multiple facets of the Champions League were discussed. Lamine Yamal not only took the name of his club’s midfielder but also applauded the midfielder from the Champions League-winning team. Yamal mentioned that Pedri and Vitinha are the two best midfielders in Europe at the moment. He responded in the interview:

Pedri and Vitinha

While Vitinha failed to leave an impression in the English Premier League while he was part of Wolverhampton Wanderers, he played an instrumental role in taking Paris St Germain to the finals and helping them win the game. In the final, he orchestrated from the deep midfield to allow the rest of the players to go all guns blazing against the opposition. In 17 Champions League games, he had 4 G/A to his name while he averaged around 6.5 Progressive Passes per 90. Also, his pass completion rate stood at 92.8% in the elite European competition.

What did the former Barcelona player opine about Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal's comparison?

Speaking to the media, former Barcelona player Deco mentioned that the comparison needs to be paused as both are two different and great individuals. He mentioned that he respects Yamal and has the potential to be the best in the business. Deco said:

Lamine is Lamine. Leo is Leo. Leo was the best player in the history of this club, for me, the best player in history. He's going to be one of the best players in the world. We need to respect him as a player, but not forget he is 17 years old.
