Is Jorginho inclined to play for Brazilian outfit? Here is what he has to say
Arsenal midfielder Jorginho admitted to the media that he is “curious” about the opportunity to play back home in Brazil. According to recent reports, the central midfielder is rumored to return to Brazil to play for Flamengo. Talking to the media about the links to Flamengo, Jorginho mentioned that he did not miss out on anything during the winter transfer window. The Arsenal midfielder was linked with Flamengo in January, but the deal did not go through. However, the Brazilian outfit might look to secure the player’s services again in the summer. Jorginho mentioned that he is curious and wants to know what it feels like to play in Brazil. He said:
I don't believe that I missed out. But I am curious, today, to know what it's like [to play in Brazil], to experience it
Jorginho moved out of Brazil to Italy when he was 16, and since then, he has represented the Azzurri at the international level. The player is now intrigued by the chance of playing for Brazil, as he is also eligible to feature for them. Talking about his stints in Europe, he mentioned that it would have been different in Brazil. However, he also expressed happiness about the way he trained in Brazil, often barefoot, which helped him develop professionally. He said:
But for my growth, playing professionally was not a problem. It helped me was when I was a child, for my growth. In Brazil it's different. I played barefoot on the street, on the beach. I think that helped me a lot in terms of growing up in contact with the ball
What did Flamengo’s boss say about Jorginho and Jorginho’s future?
Talking about the potential move, Flamengo’s boss mentioned that if everything goes according to plan, Jorginho will don Flamengo’s jersey. José Boto stated that the ball is in the player’s court at the end of the season. He said:
If everything goes well, he will play in the World Cup for Flamengo. The league ends in May, the players change clubs and there is an agreement between the clubs to release the athletes as soon as the season ends
