Inter Miami set to lock horns with Saudi Pro League outfits to secure Kevin de Bruyne's signature
According to recent reports, Inter Miami are preparing to go head-to-head with Saudi Pro League clubs to secure the signature of Kevin De Bruyne in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Belgian international is out of contract this summer and remains in talks with multiple clubs. With his future still undecided, the Major League Soccer (MLS) side is ready to join the race to sign one of the Premier League’s top midfielders.
Previously, the other Major League Soccer outfit, Chicago Fire, were leading the race to secure the signature until the Saudi Pro League outfits stepped in. While Chicago Fire is still in talks, Inter Miami can be a thorn in their race to sign the 33-year-old Belgian international.
On the other hand, Inter Miami currently have all three of their Designated Player (DP) slots filled with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, which could allow Chicago Fire to step in and negotiate a deal for the Belgian international using an available DP slot. It remains to be seen where the Manchester City star will end up once his contract expires.
What did Lionel Messi do in the game against the Red Bulls?
According to former MLS forward Herculez Gomez, Lionel Messi was unhappy with the team despite Inter Miami’s 4-1 win over the New York Red Bulls. On May 3rd, Messi scored a goal and delivered one of his finest performances in Inter Miami colors. However, reports suggest that he headed straight to the dressing room after the match, showing signs of frustration.
The reason behind this, according to Gomez, is a lack of chemistry between Messi and his teammates. He stated that the players’ inability to play in a tiki-taka style has been affecting Messi and causing him frustration. He said:
He tries to play a pass, a quick one-two to Fafa Picault, and Fafa Picault gets it stuck between his feet, and you can see Messi just frustrated. There’s a certain not frustration but fed up, he’s annoyed with how things are going. I don’t think he quite expected this heading into Inter Miami, and the recent failures are being magnified
