Here are Trent Alexander-Arnold’s five best moments for Liverpool
5) A complete game for the English right back
The English right back was growing in confidence following his debut two years ago. The right back had the allegations of not being present defensively while he was an all-star creator. In this game, he not only proved his critics wrong but also walked away with one of the finest performances in Liverpool colors.
In the 2019/20 campaign against Leicester City, he not only put his body on the line and aerially to dominate the defense, but also his pinpoint crosses ensured that the attackers found the goals at ease. He also capitalized on the chance to counterattack when Sadio Mane’s precision pass was collected by him to find the back of the net.
4) Trent to Salah- He has done it again
It was the 2017/18 season in the Premier League and the second season for English right back, but he had moved up the ranks due to his passing abilities as well as his speed on the flanks. In the game against AFC Bournemouth, it was TAA’s cross that caught the opposition off guard.
Having just passed the halfway line, Trent crossed the ball just into the box in a looping manner that took the opposition by surprise. Salah met the looping header, putting the ball past the goalkeeper, who was off the line. Nathan Ake, who was marking Mohamed Salah, was astonished by the nature of the ball that came into the cross.
3) Catching Chelsea by surprise
Before the 2019/20 campaign fell into the hands of COVID-19, Trent Alexander-Arnold had already scored one screamer against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and repeated the same trick in front of an empty Anfield in July.
Alexander Arnold’s set-piece was preceded by the memorable argument between the Liverpool gaffer and Frank Lampard on the touchline. The English right back had not taken any notice of the fracas and went on to bend the ball over the wall in a dead ball situation to find the top corner past a stranded Kepa Arrizabalaga. Liverpool came out on top with this goal in an eight-goal thriller.
2) A 25-yarder to complete the comeback
Liverpool were playing Newcastle United, and Newcastle United were struggling in the Premier League as they had only one win. The Magpies were struck with takeover talks, which had everyone struggling. However, against Liverpool, they were looking to take the second win home. Jonjo Shelvey scored the first goal in the seventh minute, but Jota and Salah had made it 2-1 in the first half itself for Liverpool.
Newcastle United had continued to challenge Mersysiders’ dominance, but it was Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long-range that settled the score for Liverpool. He struck beautifully from outside the box, which went uncontested. The goalkeeper put a long dive, but the power and precision were fine enough to find the back of the net, allowing it to win 3-1.
1) Corner taken quickly
A piece of commentary that will live rent-free in the heads of neutrals, fans, and opponents alike. The game against Barcelona had everyone on the nerves as the Catalans were leading by three goals, and they had entered the game at Anfield. Divock Origi and Gigi Wijndum had got the Merseyside outfit on level terms. While Barcelona struggled for control, Liverpool sent waves of attack.
It was one fine moment where Liverpool had just earned the corner, but cheeky and quick thinking resulted in a goal. While the entire Catalan defense was just setting themselves up, Trent Alexander-Arnold put the accurate ball into the box, leading to the fourth goal from Liverpool in the 79th minute, putting them ahead in the game. He helped his side complete the historic 4-0 comeback at Anfield, where they went on to win the UEFA Champions League title later in the same year.
