However, the player has denied any rumors and has mentioned that he wants to stay in Catalonia for the rest of his life.
Speaking to the media, the 20-year-old mentioned that people should not believe whatever appears in the media. Gavi went on to mention that the dream and objective of his life was to play out his career at Barcelona. He said to the media:
Yes, it’s completely clear. People believe what they read in the media… I understand why people might think it’s possible. But it’s not going to happen. I’m very calm about it. My dream and my objective are to play my entire career at Barça.
In the ongoing season, the player has 36 appearances across La Liga and the Champions League but had only two goal contributions, enduring a difficult season. He said to the media that it is the club of his life, and he wants to succeed. Gavi went on to mention that he wants to stick around with the club and will give everything to make the best happen. He said:
It’s the club of my life, the one where I want to succeed. I don’t want any other, and I’ll give everything I have to make it happen.
Gavi broke into the squad from La Masia when he was 16 and took the world by surprise with his seven-goal contributions in the Spanish top flight. A technically sound player was appreciated until the injuries hampered him. He will hope for a better 2025/26 season.
Who will Barcelona play next?
The club is officially yet to release their schedule for the friendlies. The Spanish giants will not be part of the FIFA Club World Cup, allowing the players to rest and regroup ahead of the next season.
