Cunha reacts after Manchester United announce his arrival on social media
Manchester United have given their fans news to cheer after they failed to excite them in the recently concluded campaign. The club struggled to garner wins and also missed out on the Champions League spot, following the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League finals. The announcement of Matheus Cunha on the first day of the summer transfer window has sent the fans into delirium as the club in the past had failed to make such early acquisitions. Amidst this, Cunha also reacted with a heart-on-fire emoji, expressing his passion to play for one of the biggest clubs in England.
On Sunday, the club announced the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Manchester United have triggered the release clause of the Brazilian, worth £62.5 million. With the club’s finances in the doldrums, the Old Trafford outfit has agreed to pay in multiple tranches. Manchester United, on their official website, posted:
Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward’s signing is subject to visa and registration. The 26 year-old has 13 senior caps for Brazil, and, in his club career, has made 270 appearances and scored 72 goals in the English, Spanish, German and Swiss top flights.
During the international break, Cunha will feature for the Brazilian national team. Under the new manager Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil will look forward to advancing in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Cunha is expected to feature alongside Casemiro, who has been with Manchester United over the last three campaigns.
Where would Matheus Cunha fit in Ruben Amorim’s style of play?
The 26-year-old Brazilian international is known for his role in the No.10 position. He has 21 goal contributions in the Premier League while playing in that position in the 2024/25 campaign. The Brazilian is is likely to don the same role at Manchester United. Though, he can play as a striker with his poaching abilities.
What next for Manchester United in the summer transfer window?
Manchester United will now continue to focus on other targets after securing Cunha’s signature. The Red Devils are rumored to sign Mbuemo from Brentford, but the club will also look to sign a shot-stopper and a striker in the transfer window.
