Cole Palmer stars as Chelsea win 2025 FIFA Club World Cup title
Chelsea’s star, Cole Palmer delivered a remarkable performance in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday to help his team win their second FIFA Club World Cup title, their first being in 2021. Palmer netted two brilliant goals inside 30 minutes to give his team a 2-0 lead, leaving the European Champions in all sorts of trouble. The man for the big occasions, Cole Palmer gave his team a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when he placed a calm left-footed strike into the bottom half left corner past Donnarumma.
He doubled the lead in the 30th minute by unleashing another left-footed strike into the same corner after receiving a long ball and cutting past a defender. PSG were left shattered after Chelsea found the back of the net for the third time right before the half-time.
Once again, it was Cole Palmer - this time with the assist as João Pedro calmly chipped the ball over Donnarumma and into the net. Paris Saint-Germain failed to bounce back despite holding 66 percent of the possession as Chelsea thumped PSG 3-0.
FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final: Cole Palmer wins Golden Ball
The star of the night, Cole Palmer won the Golden Ball as the best player in the tournament. Apart from scoring two goals in the final, he netted one in the quarter-final encounter vs Palmeiras.
“It’s a great feeling, even better because everyone doubted us before the game. PSG are a great team. I like finals. The gaffer put a great game-plan out. He knew where the space is going to be. [Maresca] is building something special, something important.” Palmer said.
Paris Saint-Germain had enjoyed a dream run, having won their maiden UEFA Champions League title and their top two domestic competitions during the 2024-25 season but, unfortunately, couldn’t get hold of the FIFA Club World Cup title.
“Chelsea played better than us today. Physically, Chelsea are in better shape than us, and that’s where we fell short today. We did so well throughout this tournament, this season. I am so happy with this team.” PSG skipper said.
