Arsenal reach agreement with Brentford to sign Christian Norgaard

According to recent reports, Arsenal are in the process of finalizing an agreement to secure the services of Christian Norgaard. The talks have progressed, and a deal is expected to be reached soon. One of the best-known transfer pundits has posted that the clubs are on the verge of signing the deal. The reports suggest that the Gunners have signed Christian Norgaard in a deal worth €11 million and the player will soon undergo medicals.

If the deal ends on a positive note, it will be Arsenal’s second signing of the summer. The Brentford skipper is expected to replace Thomas Partey, who is expected to leave in the summer transfer window. Norgaard had nine goal contributions (five goals, four assists) in the recently concluded Premier League campaign.

Thomas Partey’s contract is up on 30th June, and it is reported that the contract extension talks have broken down. With the Ghanaian international looking beyond Arsenal, the Norgaard deal looks like an absolute brainer. The Danish midfielder had two years on his contract with him signing the contract extension three months ago.

What did Thomas Frank, former Brentford manager say about Norgaard?

Often termed a late bloomer, Norgaard has won appreciation from the fans and neutrals of the game. Back in 2021, Thomas Frank praised his defensive midfielder by rating him alongside the likes of Liverpool midfielders. He called out that they would not see much difference if Norgaard was in the center of the park. He said:

I think if you took him out and put him into Liverpool, and changed the two players, Fabinho and him, I don’t think you’d see much difference
