Making a swift U-turn to reverse a contentious decision, the young Yashasvi Jaiswal has approached the Mumbai Cricket Association. The 23-year-old batter has asked the domestic board to allow him to rejoin the squad. Earlier in April, mere days into IPL 2025, the opener had demanded an NOC from the MCA to move to Goa, leaving his long-standing association with Mumbai behind. However, before the next domestic season could take over, Jaiswal is already tracing his way back to Mumbai. In a mail written to the MCA, as disclosed in a recent report, the cricketer clarified that he has not submitted the NOC to either the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association. It is yet to be known if the MCA has taken any action on his latest request.

Yashasvi Jaiswal asks MCA to withdraw NOC, wants to rejoin Mumbai for domestic career

At the tender age of 11, Yashasvi Jaiswal moved from Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai in order to build his career in cricket. Rising from the ranks, Jaiswal's stints with Mumbai in domestic cricket landed him the crucial opportunities to catapult his career to the international rank. A star performer for the MCA in first-class cricket, Jaiswal's records in the Ranji Trophy paved the way for the youngster to enter the Indian Cricket Team for the longer format. As it stands now, Yashasvi Jaiswal has cemented his spot as the primary opener for India in red-ball cricket.

The 23-year-old, however, cited 'personal reasons' and filed for an NOC to the Mumbai Cricket Association, asking the board to let him join Goa. The update made major waves despite the focus being entirely on IPL 2025. While the exact reason for Jaiswal's switch remained undisclosed, the MCA proceeded with his request, providing him the NOC. However, before the cricketer proceeded with the move, Jaiswal seems to have had a change of mind.

In his latest mail approaching the Mumbai Cricket Association, Jaiswal has asked for the NOC to be withdrawn. In his explanation, Jaiswal opened up about his family's plans of shifting to Goa, which now stand canceled. Thus, the 23-year-old has urged the MCA to take him back. Moreover, the cricketer specified that he had not submitted the NOC to the apex cricket body or the Goa Cricket Association.

“I the undersigned would request your goodself to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa which for now has been curtailed ! So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season ! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote in email to MCA.

Earlier in April, amid multiple speculations around his shocking decision, Jaiswal had talked about a leadership role. In his statement talking about the move, Yashasvi Jaiswal specified that Goa had offered him the captaincy position in the squad. With his top priority being performing for India on national duty, Jaiswal reflected on his intentions to take Goa to new heights in domestic tournaments. Meanwhile, Jaiswal would have been the third player in the newer generation, after Arjun Tendulkar and Sidharth Lad, to shift base from Mumbai to Goa. However, with the young gun taking his steps back, the switch seems to be curtailed already.
