India will host the much-anticipated ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, starting on 30th September 2025. India will go into the tournament as one of the strongest contenders, given that they have the advantage of playing at home. The Indian women’s team came close to winning the ICC Women’s World Cup in the 2005 and 2017 editions but lost in the finals both times.​ Australia are the defending champion. They won the 2022 edition of the Women’s World Cup and is also the most successful team in the tournament’s history. The Aussies have won the World Cup on seven occasions, followed by England with four title wins. 

Ahead of the 2025 edition of the Women’s World Cup, here are some of the details that you must know: 

​When will the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 start?

​The Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 will take place from 30th September to 2nd November 2025. India will take on Sri Lanka in the first match at Barasapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. 

​How many teams will participate in the Women's ODI World Cup 2025?

​A total of eight teams will participate in the tournament, namely India, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan.

Will Pakistan play their matches in India? 

​While Pakistan is participating in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, they won’t be playing their matches in India. Pakistan will be playing all their matches in Sri Lanka, including the semi-final and the final. 

​If Pakistan qualify for the final, then that game will take place at R Premadasa Stadium; otherwise, the final is scheduled to take place at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. 

 When will the knockout games be conducted? 

​The first and second semi-finals will take place on 29th and 30th October 2025, respectively, while the final will take place on 2nd November.
