The runners-up in the last season have failed to showcase a similar onslaught in the ongoing edition, languishing in the bottom half of the points table. While considered all but out, SRH can still get to a maximum of 14 points if they manage to win all of their remaining group-stage matches. Meanwhile, the first of their last four matches is the SRH vs DC IPL 2025 clash. With DC in a slump right now, SRH would hope to stay alive by curbing the visitors in Hyderabad. However, their plans to tackle the higher-ranked team look shocking, as Nitish Kumar Reddy is missing from the SRH playing XI for the fixture.

Like almost every batter in the SRH lineup for IPL 2025, Nitish Kumar Reddy has blown hot and cold this season. With form eluding the all-rounder, Reddy has scored only 173 runs in 9 matches. Pitted in a situation where a single defeat can eliminate them from the IPL 2025 playoffs race, SRH have taken stern calls for team selection in the SRH vs DC IPL 2025 match. Along with the all-rounder, pacer Mohammed Shami has also been dropped from the team. Meanwhile, Sachin Baby and Abhinav Manohar have filled the voids in the SRH playing XI.

The coin fell in favour of the home captain as Pat Cummins opted to bowl first on the dry-looking surface in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Shami is named in the impact subs list, but so is Travis Head. With SRH electing to chase against Delhi Capitals, Head will come in as the substitute, essentially meaning that Shami has been dropped. The exclusion of NKR is direct, with the all-rounder missing out on the impact subs list as well.
