Why is KL Rahul not playing India vs England 2nd ODI
The India vs England second ODI is being played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. After winning the first encounter, Shubman Gill & co. are eyeing to seal the series with another massive victory in this match. On the other side, hosts England want to make a bounce-back.
In this match, Harry Brook, England skipper, won the toss & invited the Indian team to bat first. In this match, the Indian team will enter with a change. Wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul is missing this match due to illness. Ishan Kishan is replacing him.
On the other side, England makes 2 changes in their playing XI. Saqib Mahmood and Gus Atkinson are playing this game instead of Josh Tongue and Liam Dawson.
Shubman Gill discloses the reason behind KL Rahul’s omission in this game. He said;
“We've got one change, KL Rahul is sick, so he misses out, and Ishan Kishan comes back in.
“We would have bowled first as well. Doing well, and yes, very happy and very pleased we had a near-perfect game last game. So hopefully we’re gonna have another good game.
“Yeah, definitely. I think we had good 6-7 overs in the powerplay, and then we were put under pressure in the end of the powerplay. But I think how we came back in the middle overs, fast bowlers taking wickets, it was just tremendous to see.
Shubman Gill also disclosed that he played for Glamorgan in September 2022 as an overseas player in the County Championship season.
“Yes, I did. I played a season here with Glamorgan, very good memories there. So hopefully I will have another one to add on to those memories.”
