Why is Harshal Patel not playing SRH vs GT IPL 2025 match? Check SRH playing 11

In a massive breaking news development, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are not playing their senior pace bowler Harshal Patel in their home game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season against the Gujarat Titans (GT) being hosted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. It has not been the best of performances by the Sunrisers Hyderabad collectively as a unit during their last few games in the ongoing edition of the T20 competition as they have suffered as many as three losses in a row against Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. Interestingly, the Pat Cummins-led SRH team kickstarted their IPL 2025 campaign with a comprehensive victory over the Rajasthan Royals and thus, they will be aiming to return back to winning ways. 

Why is Harshal Patel not playing today's SRH vs GT IPL 2025 match?

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins revealed that experienced pacer Harshal Patel is not part of the SRH playing 11 for this game against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. The SRH skipper further revealed that the Indian fast bowler was not available for selection as he is not full fit. Interestingly, Harshal was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad during the IPL 2025 mega auction at a price of INR 8 Crore. However, the pacer has not experienced the best of performances so far in the tournament as he has picked up only 4 wickets from as many games at an expensive economy of 9.38. 

Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap in the IPL 2021 season where he finished as the leading wicket-taker with a total of 32 wickets from 15 matches at an economy of 8.14. However, in his absence, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have included another experienced campaigner Jaydev Unadkat in the SRH playing XI. SRH are also expected to bring in fast bowler Simarjeet Singh as the Impact Player in the second innings of this SRH vs GT IPL 2025  match. 

"Happy to bat first. We want to be aggressive. It's a ground we like batting at, we scored 280 at this venue not so long ago. We need to play our best. Need to focus on our strengths. Harshal Patel misses as he is ill, Jaydev Unadkat comes in," Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins during the toss.
