The IPL Auction has long been a stage where unknown talents rise to superstardom. The IPL 2026 Auction witnessed yet another such moment when an uncapped Indian player, Auqib Nabi Dar, was snapped up by Delhi Capitals for ₹8.4 crore. The 29-year-old bowling all-rounder represents Jammu & Kashmir, marking a remarkable breakthrough in his career.
In 36 first-class matches, he has taken 125 first-class wickets with his name. With the bat, he scored 870 runs, including a half-century. The player also performs well in T20S. In 34 T20 matches, he has taken 43 wickets. He recently played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 for Jammu Kashmir, where he took 15 wickets in 7 matches. Before SMAT 2025, he also had a great Ranji Trophy season, where he claimed 29 wickets at an average of 13.27. He is regarded for his new ball swing ability and his ability to generate early strikes.
Auqib Dar’s base price was just ₹ 30 lakh. The Delhi Capitals made the starting bid. After this, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise also showed their interest in him, but in the end, Delhi Capitals won the bidding wars. The Delhi Capitals already have two excellent spinners in Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam, and Auqib's addition has strengthened their bowling even more.
