"Whenever I hold the ball, I feel like I am the best"- Arshdeep Singh
After showcasing his white-ball prowess in the Indian Premier League, Arshdeep Singh is all set to make the red-ball talk in his maiden Test assignment for India in the upcoming Test series vs England. Team India is currently in Kent and in a recent video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Arshdeep Singh shed light on India’s training session. He stated that the sole purpose of today's training session was to acclimatize to the transition from white-ball to red-ball cricket.
"The main goal of today's training was to get into a rhythm, to feel how the body is responding, and how the red ball is being released from the hand since all the players have been playing with the white ball for a while," he explained.
"It was a lot of fun. As we continue, the intensity will increase, making it more challenging for the batsmen.
"There is no room for comparison": Arshdeep on Jasprit Bumrah
Arshdeep also revealed his mindset while bowling at 22 yards and showered praise on their lead fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, stating that comparing him with Bumrah doesn’t make any sense. Instead, the focus is on learning from each other and improving their skill sets.
"Whenever I hold the ball, I feel like ‘I am the best.’ But everyone knows that when you’re in an attack with a player like Bumrah, there’s no room for comparison. The main focus is how we can improve each other’s game and benefit the team.

Arshdeep Singh has played 9 ODIs and 63 T20Is for India but is yet to make his Test debut. He has 14 wickets in ODIs and 99 wickets in the T20 internationals for India. His ability to swing the ball both ways and bowl at consistent lengths in good areas for a long period has helped him receive a maiden Test call-up for the upcoming series. He is likely to form the pace-attack alongside Siraj and Bumrah for the first Test in Headingley.
The five-match Test series between India and England begins on 20th June 2025 in Headingley, Leeds. The action then moves to Edgbaston in Birmingham for the second Test, scheduled from 2nd to 6th July 2025.
