On March 08, 2026, India successfully won their 3rd T20 World Cup title, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Indian team scored 255 runs in 20 overs after being invited to bat first. In response, New Zealand was bowled out for 159 runs.

In the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, for India, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson became the stars with the bat. Kishan scored 317 runs, while Samson scored 321 runs. On the other hand, once again Jasprit Bumrah became the hero with the ball, taking 14 wickets. In the finals, he took 4 wickets and became the player of the match. Bumrah once again emerged as Team India's most important player throughout the tournament. He played a key role in India's victories against Pakistan in the group stage, against England in the semi-finals, and against New Zealand in the final.

He made history in the finals against New Zealand, becoming the first pacer to get a four-wicket haul in the T20 World Cup knockouts, and overcame Lasith Malinga to become the leading pacer in the tournament's history.

At his home venue in Ahmedabad, Jasprit Bumrah continued to make the entirety of India, the world, and the New Zealand batters bow down to his greatness, as a four-wicket haul from him, along with a three-wicket haul from Axar Patel, did not keep New Zealand in contention at all during the gigantic 256-run chase, as they crumbled under the pressure of the scoreboard, losing by 96 runs.

Now Team India has secured their second T20WC title in a row and overall third. They are also the first team to win the title as host nation and successfully defend it. 'Jassi Bhai' has had a massive role to play in India's success, ending as the tournament's joint-highest wicket-taker with Varun Chakravarthy, taking 14 scalps at an average of 12.42 and an economy rate of 6.21, with a four-fer to his name.

He has become the first-ever pacer to have a T20WC knockout four-fer, joining spinners Ajantha Mendis (4/12 against West Indies in the 2012 final) and Shadab Khan (4/26 in the 2021 semifinal against Australia) as the third overall bowler to do so.

Bumrah is now the fifth-highest wicket-taker in the T20WC with 40 scalps in 26 matches at an average of 13.65 and an economy rate of 5.66, with a four-fer to his name. He is also the most successful pacer in the tournament's history, with 40 wickets, overcoming Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga (38 wickets in 31 matches at an average of 20.07).

However, Jasprit Bumrah could easily qualify as the tournament's best bowler ever, having won the trophy twice. In the 2024 WC victory at Barbados, he ended as the 'Player of the Tournament' with 15 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 8.26. Now in 2026, he has ended at the top of the wicket-taking charts and has earned a 'Player of the Match' title in the final.

At present, he is considered the best bowler in the world, with no other bowler coming close to his level. After the title victory, captain Suryakumar Yadav heaped praise on him, describing him as a once-in-a-generation talent. When he is bowling, batters rarely take even the slightest risk against him.

“He is a once-in-a-generation bowler. I can call him a national treasure right now. But he knows what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and he is the best in the business, and hopefully he keeps doing that.”

Bumrah stands out as the only bowler who consistently looks to attack and take wickets while also keeping the batsmen under pressure during defensive situations. Unlike many others, he thrives on big occasions and uses crucial moments to showcase his skills and guide the team to victory.

Whether it was defending 30 runs in 30 balls in the 2024 World Cup final, conceding just 14 runs in his last two overs against England in the 2026 semi-final, or playing a key role when India successfully defended 119 runs against Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Bumrah has repeatedly delivered match-winning performances for India.

Currently regarded as India’s all-format star, Bumrah is now firmly focused on the ODI World Cup next year—the one major title that still remains missing from his impressive career.
