Watch: Siraj draws first blood on Day 4, gives a fiery send-off to Duckett
The seeds of a fiery Day 4 were sown late on the third day of the Lord's Test. The third India vs England Test has been going neck and neck, with both teams vying for a series lead. However, the proceedings took a dramatic turn when Zak Crawley resorted to unconventional tactics to stall the game in the final moments of the day's play. Shubman Gill reacted in frustration to Crawley's attempt to disrupt the flow, and the day ended on a heated note. Mohammed Siraj carried that same intensity into Day 4 of the match.

India wasted little time making an impact on Day 4 of the third Test at Lord’s. Mohammed Siraj removed Ben Duckett for 12 and followed it up with a charged send-off that reignited the simmering tension between the two sides. The pacer’s exuberant celebration drew the attention of the on-field umpire, who approached from square leg to issue a warning for his aggressive conduct.
The breakthrough came in the sixth over of England’s second innings. Siraj delivered a sharp ball at 140kph just outside off stump. Duckett, looking to muscle it down the ground, misjudged the shot and ended up dragging it off the inside edge straight to Jasprit Bumrah at mid-on. As Bumrah completed the catch, Siraj charged toward Duckett, shouting in celebration and gesturing animatedly, getting uncomfortably close before the umpire stepped in to diffuse the situation.

The incident added fuel to the fire from the previous day’s heated exchange between Shubman Gill and Zak Crawley. Eager to waste the seven minutes left before stumps, Crawley called for the physio late on Day 3 and was met with sarcastic applause from the Indian players. That standoff concluded with verbal barbs, and Siraj’s response the next morning only deepened the on-field friction.
Earlier in the over, Duckett had signalled his intent with an improvised lap shot, but his decision to challenge Siraj again backfired. The dismissal reduced England to 22 for 1 and handed India early momentum in what had effectively become a battle of the second innings after both sides posted 387 in their first turns at bat.
