Sanju Samson continues to make heads turn with his remarkable hitting in the Kerala Cricket League. The Indian batter produced another scintillating knock against Thrissur Titans in the 11th match on Tuesday. Samson smashed 89 runs in just 46 deliveries; however, one rare moment during his knock has become viral on the internet. Samson scored as many as 13 runs in a single delivery during his innings. Facing Sijomon in the fifth over, Samson smashed the fourth ball for a six. It was a no-ball with the next delivery resulting in a free hit. Samson tonked it for another six, collecting 13 runs from one ball.
The video of that particular moment has been making the rounds on social media. Here’s a look at that clip:

Despite wickets falling in short intervals, Sanju Samson singlehandedly took the team to a competitive score of 188 for 7 in 20 overs. His 89-run knock was laced with four fours and nine sixes at a strike rate of close to 200.
Earlier, Samson plundered 121 off just 51 balls during a successful chase of 237 against Aries Kollam Sailors. He reached his fifty off just 16 balls and went on to score a century in 42 deliveries. Samson has opened the innings in both innings and has made great returns. With these knocks, he is certainly presenting his case for India’s opening slot in the Asia Cup eleven.
Sanju Samson will not feature in the playing XI: Aakash Chopra
With the inclusion of Shubman Gill as vice-captain in India’s Asia Cup squad, there has been a lot of debate around India’s opening combination for the tournament. With Abhishek Sharma in ominous form and Gill being picked as the vice-captain, many believe that Sanju Samson might not be featured in the playing XI.
Former cricketer and renowned commentator Aakash Chopra also offered a similar viewpoint. He believes that Abhishek Sharma will open with Shubman Gill, with Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma taking the middle order slots.
“With Shubman Gill’s return, Sanju Samson’s fate has more or less been sealed. He will not feature in the playing XI now. You will not drop Tilak Varma or Hardik Pandya, which means Samson sits out and Jitesh Sharma will likely get the nod again. One thing is very clear from this selection, the batting slots have been prioritised over personalities. With Gill coming in as vice-captain, he will definitely play and open the batting. This essentially pushes Sanju Samson out of the XI,” Aakash Chopra remarked.
