[Watch] England fans go wild as Jadeja mocks Root over second run
Joe Root steadied England’s innings with an unbeaten 99-run knock after openers got out early on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test against India. Root played against England’s usual ‘Bazball’ approach, applying caution with aggression against the Indian attack. In the final over of day 1, Root had the chance to complete his hundred, but he chose not to.
On the fourth ball of the final over bowled by Akash Deep, Root punched a short of a length delivery off the backfoot and called for two. He took a quick single, but upon charging back for the second, he saw Ravindra Jadeja with the ball aiming towards the stumps. Root chose not to risk taking the second run. In a humorous gesture, Jadeja asked Root to take the risk and come back for the second. He also rolled the ball onto the ground to tease him further, giving the fans a dose of laughter.
